The White Pass Rail and Gold Port

Skagway, Alaska, United States
We travel down the long fjord into Skagway. This small, village grows from 500 to 1000 residents during the summer cruise season. We are with 4 other ships in port and realize this place will be real busy. We head out on the White Pass Yukon narrow gorge railway to Lake Bennett in BC. Our guide lady is very good, dressed in period costume and gives a vivid description of the 1892 Yukon gold rush. We are given a box lunch on the train and upon our return we visit a gold panning site and gold dredge. The town is full of T-shirt shops and jewelery stores
