1996 Cramming in a Suburb

San Juan, San Juan/Laventille, Trinidad and Tobago
4 hrs, 4.2 kms
Day Totals: 16 hrs, 14 .6 kms

I know I'm kind of pushing my luck, but I do think I could cram in one more town today. I figure I could just skip over dangerous Laventville and head straight to San Juan, a very large suburb that actually rivals Port of Spain in size. Here I find a little plaza that's a bit too crowded (and has some not so trustworthy looking characters) for a proper Parkbench Concert--but it looks like my only choice... So I make it quick, and then prop up my camera for a discreet videoclip, then set out to explore the town.

Away from the scruffy center, it actually has more of a middle class feel--predomintly South Asian it seem. There's a large mosque compound, and a large Hindu temple on the other side. I hike for a ways then loop around back, figuring I'd better not push my luck any more... I'd rather not be wandering around Port of Spain after all the shops close.
