We slept later today as we had such a late night. After breakfast we walked to the classroom building so that I could check my email (the internet just does not work in the hotel), and then to the Cypriot Tourist Office or CTO to get a map and a tourist guide for the area. We also wanted to find out about the bus schedules so that we could plan a possible trip into the mountains one day next week.
By this time we were tired, so we stopped at the Dasoudi Restaurant which is next to the CTO for a soda. Then we walked back to the hotel but they were still cleaning our room. So what does one do? Well, look for a place to have lunch. We checked out the pool bar at the Jasmine but decided we didn’t want to do that. Our next choice was the Santa Maria Restaurant which is just around the corner from the hotel. I had a halloumi, tomato, and cucumber pita and Mike had the same only with the addition of lountza (ham). We shared an order of chips and drank water. As it was lovely sitting there with the breeze blowing in from the sea we looked at our map and chatted about what to do while here in Cyprus again.
By the time we returned to our rooms, we were feeling tired again (late nights, lots of food, and jet lag will do that to one) so we decided to take a nap. I woke up about 4:30 p.m. and since Mike was sleeping still, I went out on our balcony and reviewed my notes for class. About 6 p.m. we walked to the classroom building to chat with Mike G. and Socrates about the day trip we were planning to take to Cairo next week.
Then Mike G. and I tried to get my computer to show our power points on the screen, but to no avail. So we called Christos, Socrates’ assistant, who came and worked and worked, but nope, he couldn’t get it to work either. Thankfully the classroom computer would, so we used that one. Class went well tonight with us taking a quick coffee and snack break about 8 p.m. and then stopping about 9 p.m. While Mike G. and I were in class, Mike and Emily went shopping.
Once class was over Mike G. and I met Mike and Emily in the hotel lobby to have a drink and discuss where to have dinner. We ended up at the Savilla Restaurant. Mike, Mike G. and I all chose the set menu. For starters the two Mikes had prawn cocktail and I had a side salad. We all shared the hot rolls that were brought to the table. For the main course Mike G. and Mike chose the pepper steak, chips and rice (isn’t that strange to have 2 starches?) while I had fried calamari and chips. Emily had grilled halloumi and a Village salad instead of the set menu. For dessert all had ice cream except for me. I chose the cheesecake which was a bad choice—it tasted synthetic, icky tasting, and even somewhat phlegm like! So I helped Mike eat his ice cream dessert which was much better.
After dinner we stopped in the new Mini-Mart at the Park Beach Hotel where Mike G. bought some chocolate wafer cookies that looked like brown Pringles. Then we walked on back to the Jasmine and to our rooms. By this time it was close to midnight and we were very tired.
