Casa Batllo and last dinner in Barcelona

Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands
Our last full day in Barcelona. Time to tick some items off our list.
Another big walking day.  First off we walked up Passeig de Gracia to Casa Batllo for a look inside the house. Very sea themed with shell patterns in the ceilings, innovative ways of letting in the light and airflow and of course the beautiful mosaics all over the front of the building and the dragon roof.
Was quite interesting but probably prettier from the outside to be honest.
After this we walked up to La Pedrera, another of Gaudis houses but we decided to just eat at the cafe here and not go inside. The other house was EUR 35 so it adds up after awhile.
Next we walked over to the Arc de Triomphe and then through the Arc’s park down to the harbour. Had a suss guy shadowing us through the park. Every time we would stop to look in one of the old exhibition buildings he would sit on a bench and then coincidentally start to walk again when we came out.   Managed to shake him off down near the port so all good.
Didn’t quite make it to look at the beach as a bit far and getting sick of lugging cameras by this stage so we sat at a port side cafe and had a light snack and a drink, had a surprisingly good caprese salad. Can’t ruin appetite for dinner tonight. Haha
Back to the hotel for a rest again after this then I did a bit of retail therapy while Michelle rested and then I came back and had a shower and got glammed up for dinner.
Went back to Bar Del Pla where we ended our walking tapas tour a couple nights back. This time we sat at the bar which was fun as we were able to chat with the friendly waitress during our drinks and meal. Sure she said “equality” to us at one stage ... did she think we were a couple??
Had a few glasses of the house white which was surprisingly good, especially for only EUR 4 each. For our meal we had some tomato bread and this time we could see what the fuss was about as it was super yummy, then we shared fried zucchini flowers and I had bbq sliced Iberian pork with quince and pinenuts and Michelle had king prawn sushi rolls. Ended with a delicious dessert called “The Chocolate” which was soooo good then a “happy ending” shot each courtesy of the waitress.
We also saw Enrique our guide from the tour again and chatted to him for a few minutes. He only had a couple with him this time and he said our group was more fun haha.
So glad we came back here for our last dinner in Barcelona. The food was amazing and really well priced, especially for the quality.
After dinner we went for one last late night stroll around the Gothic quarter, exploring more laneways we hadn’t been down before. Passed by “Satan’s Coffee House” with its list of rules including “No wifi, No kids activities, No f*cking instagram”, then up Las Ramblas and finally back to our hotel for sleep time.
