Stoneville, Western Australia, Australia
1st - 4th October

Several weeks ago we posted on the Lotus Caravan Owners FBook site "Could someone recommend where we could leave our rig whilst we go to Bali for a few weeks" . We had several replies, but one younger Lotus couple, Bec and Will, sent a message that we are more than welcome to leave the van at their place, on 5 acres about 20klm from the airport. We happily accepted this offer and arrived on Friday, a few days prior to flying to Bali.

Will works up north on one of the ocean gas sites, however, he was home on his rostered week off when we arrived, and he had moved their Lotus Freelander from the large carport attached to his farm shed into the shed itself. This gave us plenty of undercover room for both Freelander and the Patrol whilst away.

Their kids, Will and Amelia, are both pre-school, in fact on the Sunday they were celebrating their eldest, Will's 3rd birthday and invited us to join, which we did. There were about 30 adults and mobs of kids there and we had a very welcoming and wonderful afternoon. Both of us helped with the setup, cooking and cleanup, then after the guests had left Roscoe and Will settled in to watch the NRL Grand Final . Will being a Cloncurry lad was backing the Cowboys and Roscoe chose to back the Broncos which had been Nicks passion. Well, sorry Nick, but at least a Queensland team won the day, yah Cowboys!

Coincidentally arriving in Perth the same day were mates from the Gold Coast, John and Roxanne McKeon, and we caught up with them on Saturday at the Cottesloe Beach Hotel for lunch. The pub is large but beautifully set out, especially the sprawling undercover beergarden/casual dining area with multiple food stands and bars set in a garden like area. Judging by the staff on duty it is obviously usually very busy, however, the AFL Grand Final witha WA team playing seems to have ensured everyone was at home or GF Parties and we almost had the place to ourselves. Nice to see the guys and get some news of the homefront.

The only task we had in these days was to buy Roscoe a surfboard to take to Bali. We had researched on the net and visited a retailer in town to pick up a 7'6" board with fins, leash and bag for a very reasonable price....now to see how it, or Roscoe after a 5 month layoff performs!

To be continued upon our return on 22nd October 2015.......
