Reflections!!!!

Today is one of those days I don't want to do much but take it as it comes . Earlier in bed I was thinking whether to postpone the annual thyroid appointment at my Private Doctor’s or not. I don’t want to waste half the day waiting for my turn.

I am still in bed with my morning thoughts trying to sort things out with closed eyes and make a plan. I am not sure if I want to get up so early just because this particular doctor cannot keep a steady appointment which is not of course his fault. The only thing I know is that he opens at 8.30 a.m and there is a queue waiting even at eight.

I hate to have breakfast so early in the morning.

I draw up the blinds when I notice that Yianni is awake, and I am amazed with the bright sun and the reflections of the boats and buildings in the waters. There is a different picture this beautiful morning . I get back in bed focusing through the crystal windows, and the more I see the beauty, the more I want to get up and have a stroll, go anywhere but I cannot remain longer in bed.

I am still undecided even after my morning shower, so when Yianni asks me what I plan to do I reply that I am late already for the doctor, I can imagine the number of people waiting, so we could enjoy our breakfast first and take it as it comes.

I needn’t rush it, I come to the doctor to check if it is worth waiting and I see that I am the 3rd person so I decide to stay. Luckily I have along my laptop!! Even if I am the 3rd person I still know this can take long because when a patient is inside different people drop by for a signature or to have the doctor see something urgently so even the doctor cannot be sure for the time. This is the reason of the delay, and in the meantime people keep coming in . Ten minutes after I come in and there are already 6 behind me!!!

Last year I was here at 9:00 a.m and I found 8 people ahead of me. The secretary told me that he cannot see me but I insisted that I cannot return another day since I came all the way from another city, so she said that it would be fine if I could wait until 2.30 p.m. So, I was wandering in the city, even had a snack until that time!!!

Anyway this time, I finished after two hours believe it or not and I was third!!!

We are supposed to have dinner with friends tonight so I return to the hotel leave the laptop behind, arrange to meet the manager of the hotel who happens to be the alderman of the city, the person below the mayor. I give my phone number to the reception and I am out enjoying this wonderful, unbelievably beautiful …but still chilly morning .

I don’t want to walk far because I have a problem with my eyes and truly I don’t feel comfortable at all. The skin is reddish around the eyes, itchy and I have to stop the (tears) before flowing down on my face!

It seems the medication I am on did not help a bit, so as I walk I decide to return home and see the optician again before we go to Piraeus –this where we arranged to go next.

I receive the phone call I expected while having my stroll and I return to the hotel for my appointment. Later on in the afternoon we cancelled our dinner outing with friends and even if the couple insisted that we meet we told them that we shall leave it for another time since our friend got influenza and with such cold outside what he should do was to remain indoors. Arranging another dinner outing is the easiest thing to do .

I have a number of photos taken some in the morning and some just before sunset.

The next morning it is a wet day we have breakfast and return home to see my optician for a 3rd time!! The infection is serious and the doctor says that she can help me no more if by the end of the 10 day medication I don’t recover. I have 5 more days to go before I get either well or totally disappointed. I have some improvement but it is not what I expected it to be. I hope I have your positive thoughts these days.

I am under medication for this eye problem the last two and a half months.

There was a slight improvement for 3 days but I face the same problem again Paula. I plan to visit another optician in Athens this time when the weather condition improves. We have snow and minus 4 -6 these days !!! Unbelievable but true.
