The Scottish Highlands

Inverness, Scotland, United Kingdom
Today, James and I took off in a little Audi sports car he borrowed from his buddy to do an all day driving loop through the Scottish Highlands and burn a couple tanks of gas on the twisty back roads. And at $8 dollars a gallon, I say why wouldn't you?
The scenery was amazing as well as the sense of history you get from this place . Sometimes, the countryside reminded me of the woods back home in Pennsylvania but there was clearly something different to it as well.  I can't put my finger on it but perhaps it was the fact that Scotland has castles in places where we would have put a trailer park.
This was a great day trip and I loved being able to visit some of the places I have only heard of until now such as Loch Ness. Surprisngly, I did not see the Loch Ness Monster as promised. Don't tell anyone I said this but I think it may be a tourist scam.
