Arriving in Santiago, I discovered a city that is organized, modern, and architecturally photogenic. And just a few kilometers away sits the second highest mountain range in the world, The Andes. It's a nice city to walk around and take photos of all the buildings and stuff. The only downside, is there's a problem with all the smog that hangs over the city. I didn't realize this until I went up a hill called San Cristobal that has a great view over the city. It was definitely not so easy to see the nearby mountains or into the distance too far. In fact, I have no photos that even prove the The Andes mountains are there... and they're so close. Anyway, I spent my few days here walking around all day and the evenings talking to people I meet in the hostel. I am running into people I know all the time. When I first checked in, I never even made it to my room before I recognized two people I met before in Argentina.   

The hostel I worked at in Montevideo, Che Lagarto, also has one here too . So I was looking forward to a healthy discount. They only gave me a couple bucks off but I guess anything helps in Chile. Santiago is nice but I am back in full-throttle travel mode and not hanging around. I'm off .....
