Renting a Car, Take 2:  OK, let's try this car rental thing again. Lightning in the form of bad driving Israeli girls cannot strike twice, can it? This time, Doug drives.

At our hostel yesterday, Doug and I recruited Caroline, Andrea, and Catalina to share the cost of a rental car so we could explore around Tierra del Fuego with the beautiful Cabo San Pablo being our final destination . Cabo San Pablo is a remote spot on the Atlantic coast that few tourists get to see. The exact location is unmissable thanks to an old shipwreck that is beached there. When the tide recedes, you can even climb aboard and have a look around. It's pretty obvious it's been here awhile because the floor was really rusting out. I kept my on-deck visit limited to a small area and very brief as I was in no mood to fall through a rusty floor. The cape (or cabo in spanish) was a great spot to just hang out and have the lunch
that we bought in the famous bakery in Tolhuin, the closest town to here with somewhat of a human population. The simple dirt road to get here offered great views of huge estancias, or ranches, and uncountable herds of guanacos; the llama like creatures than inhabit the entire Patagonian steppe and Tierra del Fuego(Land of Fire).

After returning the car in one piece, we saved some money by cooking our own dinner in the hostel. Special thanks go to Caroline for taking on the duty as "chef". Absolutely no thanks go to me ... I just sat around and drank wine until the food was ready. Dinner was followed by a typical Argentinian night on the town... nothing starts til 2 or 3 AM and then you stay up til dawn. We did exactly this and then Doug and I caught the 8 AM bus out of here. It was easy to catch some sleep after a night like that. Doug is still trying to figure out why he had a headache all day. Next stop, Puerto Natales, Chile to go hiking in Torres del Paine National Park.
