Wire vs Roof Antenna

Wichita Falls, Texas, United States
Today, we headed for Wichita Falls, for a couple of nights as we began heading north toward Indianapolis.
As we pulled into the Wichita Falls RV Park, our over-the-air roof antenna caught a low hanging communications cable strung across the entrance to the park.  As we pulled forward, it sounded as though the top of the motorhome was being ripped open.  In the rearview mirror, I could see some cable hanging off the side of the coach, and as we continued into the park, I saw the antenna laying in the road behind us.  When I walked into the office to register, I mentioned what had just happened, and after we registered, one of the ladies in the office and the park maintenance man walked with us to the coach to see what had happened.  They were extremely apologetic even though they had nothing to do with the cable.  Once we got set up, Shirley got on the roof and sealed the roof so that water would not get in in the event of rain.  Later, the lady in the office came down to tell us that she had talked with the owner who had agreed to get a local RV repair person out that afternoon to assess the damage, and replace the antenna at their expense and that they would work with the utility company to get reimbursed so that we would not have to be involved anymore that necessary.   That afternoon, Kyle of RV E.M.T (Emergency Mobile Technician) showed up and called later to say he had a new antenna and would install it Tuesday evening.  That evening, the owner and the utility company dropped by to see what had happened and ensured that all would be taken care of.
Tuesday, we drove around the older part of Wichita Falls to check out some of the older homes of the town.  Many of the homes have been restored to their original beauty while others wait for some caring person(s) to come in and bring them back to their glory.
It was getting close to noon, so we picked a local hangout to have lunch - Willie's Place.  The on-line reviews were mixed, but we decided to give it a try.  It is a unique place that sits in a three sided piece of dirt at an intersection of three streets.  The place is only big enough for a small kitchen, and eight four place booths, and a tiny parking lot.  You order at the cash register and they bring the food out to you.  The menu is on a double sided laminated piece of paper - one side is nothing but a long list of fresh made hamburgers of all types, and the other is a list of the BBQ and the sides they offer.   The burgers were huge and looked great, but we wanted some Q so Shirley ordered their brisket plate, and I ordered their three meat plate (sausage, brisket and ribs).  When the plates came out I was amazed at the amount of meat on them!  We took enough home to cover a couple of meals. The brisket was tasty, but a little on the dry side; however, the sauce they give you is enough to moisten it up.  The sausage and ribs were moist and very tasty.  Good eats!
Later that afternoon, Kyle showed up as he promised and installed a new antenna.  I cannot say enough good things about Kyle, and the staff and owner of the Wichita Falls RV Park.  Everyone was very helpful and caring about our situation and did all that they said they would do.  It is good to see that there are still folks in this crazy world we live in that commit, and follow through.  We would encourage you to stay at the Wichita Falls RV Park if you are ever in the area, and, if you happen to need your RV worked on, do not hesitate to call Kyle of RV E.M.T.
