We Made It!

Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
Today, we drove a few miles from the KOA to the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds for the FMCA Convention.
We timed our departure just right so that we were one of the first rigs to arrive for the day.  Since I am the AlfaSeeYas Chapter National Director, they wanted all the Governing Board to be parked no later than Monday so that we could attend meetings that would cover all of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday morning I walked over to the coliseum for the first series of meetings.  They were predicting thunderstorms and heavy rain.  Boy, were they spot on!  We could hear the rain and the thunder inside and knew it was pretty bad outside.  Little did we know.  When we broke for lunch, I got soaked from the waste down going back to the coach - fortunately, I had an umbrella!  Once I got to the coach, I made a command decision to forgo the afternoon meeting.  The rain got heavier and heavier!  The poor guys and gals on the parking crew stayed out there getting coaches parked.  They definitely needed special recognition for what they had to endure and they are volunteers!
Wednesday I spent most of the day in meetings and Shirley attended a couple of seminars and checked out the many vendors.   The weather was hot and very muggy from all the rain on Tuesday.
Thursday, Shirley went to a couple of seminars and I hit the Blue Ox booth to buy a new tow bar for the coach.  When we were in Quartzsite this past January, they informed me that the tow bar we had was getting boarder line and that they might not be able to do maintenance on it the next time - surprise, surprise it only has 100K miles pulling the PT and Jeep every where!
That evening we ended up going out to eat.  We found the Aristocrat Pub not too far from the fairgrounds.  Just as we pulled into the parking lot, the skies opened up.  Fortunately, we had umbrellas in the car and made it into the restaurant without getting soaked.  The place is a neat place that has a British/New England flavor with dark wood and lots of neat junk hanging on the walls and from the ceiling.  After ordering a couple of tasty and very cold beers, Shirley ordered their turkey burger and I opted for their cottage pie - similar to a shepard's pie.  Good eats!
Friday evening, the Prichards invited us and three other couples who also own Alfa coaches to their coach for a social hour.  Was good to get to meet others that share a common interest in the same rigs.
Saturday, Shirley went to the General Membership Meeting and a seminar while I waited for the honey wagon to come and pump our holding tanks - ah, the joy of the RV lifestyle!  Later we both attended the International (INTO) Area meeting to represent the Chapter.
