July 3rd, we arrived at Cedarbrook RV Park and Campground near Mulberry Grove, IL for a couple nights. It is a quiet park far enough off the interstate that you do not get a lot of truck noise. We were parked in their "rotation" section of about nine FHU pull thru sites as most of the park is made up of seasonal and permanent units. It is adjacent to a small lake for fishing. For an overnight stop, it is great.
On our second day there, we drove to Vandalia, IL and checked out a couple of outlet malls we kept seeing billboards advertising them. One specialized in cooking stuff and knives (Case, Hinkley, etc). They had thousands of knives for sale! Fortunately for Molly, the only fireworks she had to put up with that evening were some sparklers that a couple of grandkids a few rigs over set off. Was the quietest 4th we ever had. Bet the park was crazy Saturday and Sunday before the 4th!
July 5th we stopped and spent a couple of nights at the Terre Haute KOA just outside of town. It was a nice park with a small café, pool and lots of trees - so many the satellite could not get a signal.
The next morning we drove into Terre Haute and went to the Clabber Girl café and museum in the original building. Was a very interesting museum with lots of interesting stuff to see and read about. We then had decided to check out a local brewery that was in the building where the oldest brewery in Terre Haute was originally housed. Unfortunately, it was not open until late that afternoon. Instead, we visited Stein Mart and Wally World before returning to the coach.
July 7th, we arrived at the Indianapolis KOA for three nights before going into the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) Convention on the Indiana State Fairgrounds north of downtown Indianapolis. The night we arrived, we had a heavy rain with thunder, so Molly was a basket case. We bought a thunder vest for her while we were near Edwardsville, IL. It helped, but she was still a basket case! This is a great park for families as they have a huge water park like pool with water cannons, water splash features, etc. They also have pedal cars. While there, they had a local guy set up a stand with fresh produce and meats we could buy.
The next day we drove into Greenfield to pick up Shirley's prescriptions, but found that one of them would not be ready until the next day, so we went to Kohls, Walmart, and a Gander that was having a going out of business sale. Gander had some great deals, but since we were on the road, we didn't take advantage of those deals.
Sunday morning we drove back to Greenfield to get Shirley's meds and decided to have breakfast. They had a Cracker Barrel on one side of the street and a Bob Evans on the other. We opted to go to the Bob Evans as they are not in our part of the country. Timing was everything as they were starting to line up at the door when we left.
