I'd just arrived back from Canada friday night, was jetlagged, and had to bring my boxes of stuff home from school. The start of the week I was too tired. From the middle of the week it was raining heavy every day so I couldnt carry the boxes home. I was able to take one in the teachers car to the dinner as I'd be getting a lift home.
The school hired three buses to take everyone to the restaurant but we went in our own car so we could leave in our own time. We followed the buses in the heavy rain, winding thru the Palgong Mountains, till we reached the restaurant.
This was a duck restaurant, something I hadnt seen since my first visit to China in 2010. The restaurants had typical floor tables with grill pans in the middle.
A large bowl of raw meat came which they grilled on the pan. It didnt seem enough food for everyone and they grilled different vegetables with it.
As this was the farewell dinner for the Principal speeches were made and he was given gifts. He'd been in a very lighthearted mood all week which was unusual as he's usually very tense and serious.
Then they asked me to stand and gave me the mic so I did a little speel in my limited korean which is quite better than it was.
After that a bowl of boiled duck meat came which was now too much food and we werent able to each much of it. We then toasted in traditional style.
The teachers then surprised me by giving me two gifts, which I wasnt expecting, but I had bought them all gifts on my visit home to Canada. One was a painted fabric with what they said is a very famous painting. The other was a painted fan.
Tomorrow would be my last day so it would be sad to leave after all my experiences in the last two years.
