Men's Haircut

Moving into my new neighbourhood I was having a hard time finding a men's barber. Ladies salons are easy to find and as numerous as bus stops on almost every block. But a men's barber is difficult to find.

There was a good one in my old neighbourhood that knew how to cut my hair, but now he's a bus ride or 25 mins by bike, and he keeps random hours so I dont want to make a special trip to find he's closed.

Biking and walking around in my new area all I could find were womens salons. Then I remembered that when I stayed in jimjilbangs (sleeping rooms) they sometimes had a mens barber onsite in the mens shower floor.

I was also trying to find a gym in my neighbourhood. There is only one gym in a large building at the big intersection. Their prices were quite high, 99,000w for a month ($90). I had paid 260,000w ($235) for a one year membership in my old gym which had much better equipment .

However, the mens shower floor also doubled as a mens sauna with whirlpools and sauna style shower stalls. They also had a mens barber so this solved my dilemma of where to get my hair cut.

It was a bit awkward trying to communicate with each other but I think I got him to understand what to do and he did a good job. He charged 9000w ($8) whereas my old barber was 6000w ($5.50).

However, I'm good to go and I told them I'd be back next month.
