I was debating what to do when I leave. At first I was thinking of a pizza party for my favourite students but that can be unfair as some students might really like me but I didnt pick them. I thought of buying each homeroom candy but that would be expensive too.
When I started telling the classes I would be leaving they didnt seem that bothered and just wanted to know who the new teacher was, but after some told me privately they are sad and they want me to stay.
I have lots of candy so just decided to walk around between classes handing them out. I had no classes all week so I had time between each lesson bell to walk around.
Again kids weren't that bothered about me leaving and went into a frenzy trying to get the candies. They swarmed me, tried grabbing and ripping the bag out my hand, stretching and ripping the plastic. I had to put it away as it was getting out of hand like a feeding frenzy at the zoo.
Some girls in 2nd Grade that I liked then wanted some so I brought them down into my classroom where they all ripped and devoured the bag again. Another group of 3rd Grade boys that I like also wanted my marshmellow bag so I had to take them aside into the computer room where the bag again got shredded with marshmellows thrown onto the floor in the frenzy.
It was sad leaving after two years but this day was due to come eventually one way or another. I was surprised to find another present on my desk from one of the teachers and they all came out to greet me as I left the staffroom for the last time.
