DaeguBlog Dinner at Japanese Restaurant

Daegu, South Korea

The City of Daegu invited me and the other new foreign blogger to dinner at a Japanese restaurant. I'm surprised in the two years I've been in Korea I've never been to a Japanese restaurant, despite liking Japanese food, eating lots back home, and enjoying the Japanese food I ate on my visit to Japan in 2011.

The restaurant had a choice of western or asian style seating. We opted for the more private asian room. I dont understand all the menu items but fortunately it was in english, korean, and japanese.

Since I like fish I ordered grilled mackerel which came with tempura shrimp and vegetables, udon soup, grated lettuce with dressing, and other side dishes. One that looked like margarine was actually an egg. The dipping sauce was a bit vinegary so I poured it on the rice for more flavour.

The others ordered sushi (which I dont like), and sashumi which is sliced raw fish. Raw fish gives me stomach problems but I tried a slice of the raw tuna. Their meals were more expensive at 22,000w ($20) while mine was 9000w ($8)

It was good practice seeing as I'll be going to Japan for five days in less than two weeks. Hopefully I'll try more Japanese restaurants when I get back
