It is the first day of our trip and we have a long way to go, so we are up early to get Michael to the airport on time. Thanks to Karen, Anna, Patti and Willis for helping out and for watching over the house while we are gone.

Michael's plane left early and had a long layover in Toronto, where it was a beautiful and sunny day . Unfortunately, the Bluejays/Red Sox game started too late in the day to make it practical to get to the ballpark and back to the airport in time to make his connecting flight to Munich. (Someone needs to plan their layover better next time!)

Meanwhile, Glenda had plenty of time to stop and have breakfast with Karen before she boarded her flight to Chicago. (Yes, we are flying separately. That is the price we are paying for using leftover frequent flier points on two different airlines.) After a brief layover in Chicago, Glenda flew on to Berlin, then Munich. 

The challenge of flying separately is not knowing whether we will both arrive on time and find each other in time to make our connection with the Deutsche Bahn train to Nürnberg. STAY TUNED.
