DAY 4: Sailing the Röthsee

Saturday, August 17, 2013
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany
Although we got up a bit earlier today, we are still recovering from jet lag and adjusting to the time difference. We started the day with another wonderful breakfast. Peter had gone out early to the butcher and bakery, so we had fresh rolls, pastries and Kuchen. After breakfast Peter and Michael went to a nearby lake (Rothsee) to go sailing, while Glenda and Angela went for a bike ride along the Main-Donau canal that runs near the house.

It was another sunny day with beautiful, blue skies . The weather was a little too perfect, as there was no wind for sailing. By mid morning the wind picked up a bit, so Peter and Michael took the Catamaran out for a spin. While they were out Anja called to say she was joining them, so they returned to shore to pick her up. Unfortunately, the wind was still quite calm, so the sailing trip was cut short and they headed back to Katzvang.

Later in the afternoon Angela's older sister, Barbara, arrived with husband Sigi. It was time for a barbecue! Anja was working the overnight shift, so she joined us for dinner before heading in to work. Later, the three sisters (Glenda, Barbara and Angela) took a moonlit walk along the Main-Donau canal, while the men finished drinking the good Franconia wine.
