Leaving Carnarvon Gorge

Bluff, Queensland, Australia
Tuesday 25 July
We left Carnarvon Gorge this morning and drove back through the lush cattle country of the 18,000 hectare Bandana Station. The lovely fat beef cattle seem so familiar with vehicles that some keep their heads down and continue chewing while others laze in the thick  grass when we drive past.

At Rolleston we finally had a decent Telstra signal and the emails and messages of the past  six days came pouring in. While Rick filled the car with diesel, I sorted the good from the rubbish. I also caught up with 'the' blog, which was a little behind. I realise my dedicated followers (is there one or two of you?) would be waiting in anticipation for the next episode ;-)
After many discussions and copious research, we had decided to forget taking the Mouse House to Blackdown Tableland, and do a day drive there in the car. At Bluff we camped behind the pub for the night, with the plan to drive up to Blackdown in the morning, leaving the van at the pub.
We paid $15 to the publican, Graham, for power and camping for the night, then had the obligatory drink , in a nice beer garden area at the back. Bluff is a connection station for the coal trains for the Blackwater area mines, and if you live in Bluff you probably work for the Rail. I like trains, and I'm kind of deaf these days, so I wasn't too worried about train noise during the night.....
For a treat we ate at the pub, Tuesday Tbone Special, then headed back for a good sleep......
No photos, sorry.
