Final days and back to the Big House.

Saturday 29 July

Another day spent lazing by the river, as well as a little trip into Gayndah, Rick's town of birth, for a bit of reminiscing. Back to camp in time to do some more paddling and unprofitable fishing then it was time to warm up in front of the fire.
Sunday 30 July
Bacon and eggs with water views and listening to Macca on the radio - what a great way to start a Sunday. Then the rest of the day was spent blobbing around and relaxing. Still no fish.
Monday 31 July
A warm humid night followed by a foggy morning - preparing us for our return to Djindi (place of mist). There are actual clouds in the sky too. Everything is packed away, ready to head home tomorrow via La Franz Drive, to check up on Ave and the old man of the Gassman tribe after his knee replacement and before he heads back to Broome.
The house sitters have left, so we'll see how wonderful they were on Wednesday when we shall be back home after the 9 weeks we've spent on the road, be it bitumen or dirt and dust, but it was never mud - two days of rain in 9 weeks isn't bad.
Tuesday 1 August
Left Mingo for Maryborough this morning via old friends of Rick's, where we had morning tea at their orchard out of Gayndah, on their back verandah overlooking Gray's Waterhole on the Burnett River- wished I'd taken a photo as it was truly beautiful.
After a great night with Lindsay and Ave, with little brother Wez joining us, yummy chicken curry and road testing marshmallow toasting sticks on the fire with gigantic Aldi S'mores  off we toddled to our footpath home for the night.
Wednesday 2 August
A bit of relative hopping happening... We're off to Hervey Bay from Maryborough to camp on another footpath, then it will be home on Thursday, maybe. Anyone would think we didn't want to go home ;-)
Thanks for following us :-)

Thanks, Penny, for following along and for joining us last night. We know you've had a busy family time lately. The house is great! All clean and accounted for. Clean up has started but a long way to go. Xx
