Across BC

Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada
Today we have a long day of driving – after all that time on the road, we are eager to head home and so we put in one long day of driving:
The Columbia Valley and Rogers Pass
The first part of our trip goes up the Columbia Valley on a road we never drove before – it is a beautiful mountain valley until we reach Hwy 1 and head west, came through Revelstoke and then slowly drive by more mountains up onto Rogers Pass we amazing views on the glaciers. We stop at the top to make a cup of coffee and to enjoy the beautiful (and cold it’s 9 C up here) view before heading down through the tunnels. And we gained now an hour as we are now officially back on BC time.
As we drive down it gets warmer and warmer and we admire again some of the beautiful areas we drove by several times and then along the gorgeous Shuswap lake a quick shopping stop in Salmon arm and we continue on and the hills are getting yellow and dry, yes we approach Kamloops. Here we fill up gas again: today is the first day on our trip where we fill up gas twice in one day!!!! And then we head out on Highway 5 through more yellow and dry hills  reaching Merrit.
No Rest stop and no Coffee on the Coquihalla
We decided that we will now stop at a Rest stop – but none came and Paul was not interested in stopping at a brake stop with all the truckers and so we drove and continued on and on and on. By the way we checked also our gas/km ratio and it was funny as on the way up the Coquihalla Paul at one time was at 44l/100km but lucky for him on the way down he went as low as 1l /100km…
As we drove down the Coquihalla we came by a few construction sites and some were clearly the bridges which got washed out in the flooding and landslides last fall and were still going single lane as they are rebuilding the new bridges.
Overnight with traffic
And we are down again in the Fraser Valley and head further west, as we decided to sleep as close as possible to Abbotsford, we were not so convinced about the parking spots there and decided to park and sleep close to Fraserway RV – the only spot we found was near the highway so we will have some background noise tonight!!! But then tomorrow it is really not much for driving anymore.
By the way we did 815 km today and as per google it was 8.75 hrs driving time – add on the delays of constructions, the quick breaks and gas stops and yes we were 11 hours on the road today!!!! Which makes it our longest driving day and our longest distance in one day… but then we want to go home!!!
A new RV or not???
We stayed last night in Abbotsford as we wanted to look at 2 RV’s at Fraserway, we knew that we will sell our camper, but we are not sure on what we exactly want: slide out or not??? Used and how old – what can we afford? So we got a lot of info and ideas here and all we know that we go home, sell our camper (yes and the truck) and then we will wait as we won’t go camping for the next 12 month :-)
