G,day all,
Well the official start of our Trip to Perth and Broome has begun as we prepare for the 3 nights on board the Indian Pacific Train as we will cross the breadth of this country
.
We awoke at the lovely time of 7am and had a lovely breakfast, then decided to try and find this mythical tunnel that every one was talking about and low and behold there it was so off we went to find where it came out. Little did we know that we would be like a lost Salmon swimming against the tide as we went north towards the trains every one was going south, some with a dead look in their eyes others with ipods in ears and a few texting and a couple were actually reading books none looking where they were going just in a trance and going where they have gone every day for years their inbuilt radar avoiding other lemmings heading for the cliff.
Well we saw off shoots but none seemed to take us to the main Hall so we went out an exit found out we had walked the full length of the tunnel and came out the other side so had to walk back to the start and decided that the 3.5 klm walk and 30 minutes later was not a 5 minute walk and agreed with each other to walk up the road and just cross the road
. We had to buy another bag as we forgot that we needed carry on as the big bags would not fit in the cabin with us so again another bag sheesh every time we go away we come home with an extra bag.
The time came to check out so we walked across the road booked bags through to Perth an stored the carry on, then went walkabout (to go for a walk) and decided to take it on the light rail rode it to the end and then got off at the Sydney Fish markets for lunch, this was a great experience to see all the fresh fish and seafood all in one place we had lunch Fish and chips of course at Doyle's seafood restaurant, then headed back into town by then it was time to board the train.
Well the cabin was nice a long three seater bench seat that converts to the lower bunk with the top bunk being pulled down from the wall and a ladder to climb up to the top bunk, the Bathroom consisted of a pull down sink and a loo (toilet) that was also pull down the shower was in the corner and you had to have all the sinks and loo's out of the way and leave the cat out side as there is no room in there to swing it even Cedric had trouble as you know he is small
.
We were lucky to have a Late meal call which meant you were not under the clock to finish the meal for the next sitting, But true to the Standards the evening meal was fantastic, after dinner we went to bed as we were up early next morning to do a tour of Broken hill so an early morning call is required.
Good night all sweet dreams Stewart and Nancy.
Hello Everybody,
Tis me the Roaming reporter Squirrel Cedric, Have i got a story for you, today I was in a new city and man i can tell you it feels great to be out of that damn book case he keeps me in, I was told that we are going on trains planes and automobiles woo hoo i reckon they should make a movie about this hey.
We flew with that Virgin again and this time it was a tad tight there were three by three rows but the flight was quick one hour later we were in the Big smoke Sydney, We met this cool dude who was Stupids Brother and i thanked the gods it did not run in the family so he must have been given the stupid gene, We wandered around this beautiful city and then met the rest of his family and yep it was true only he had it, so i now understand why Nancy calls him stupid, I thought it was a pet name but no he is stupid
.
The next day he dragged us around Sydney looking for a tunnel that was suppose to be easy to find and get to the Train station, Nancy said um excuse me but whats that thing that leads down stairs so off we set and man i thought lemmings were a bunch of hearding things but you humans have nothing on them talk about following the leader sheesh. We ended up walking for years but eventually got back to the beginning and he said we will just cross the road, sheesh now how simple is that.
Well we took the bags to the station and then went on a tour of the city's light rail system we went to the end of it at Lilydale stayed on and came back to the Sydney Fish Markets, I asked what do the sell here and the look i got was a classic are you an idiot or a stuffed toy squirrel look from the idiot and they both said Shoes, and i went well something fishy is going on then if they all smell like fish it is no wonder they are not selling and they looked at me again with that look and said Fish you stuffed squirrel
.
Well we got back to the station boarded the train and i was promptly sat on a book and made to look out the window at the passing scenery as they fiddled and faddled about getting clothes put away and stuff then i was shown the BATHROOM well um excuse me but i think they forgot something as i asked where was the Bathroom i was looking at a broom closet, how am i suppose to wash my self in that tiny room sheesh there is not enough room to swing an idiot in there little known me doing a shampoo and dry my self.
After dinner they came back to find me tucked in bed and they climbed in an said an early rise tomorrow at Broken Hill, so all night long i was thinking what the hell broke this hill and are we going there to fix it or what so little ones I shall let u all go and i shall ponder this dilemma and try and get some sleep chow babies and see you in the morning.
Your Roving reporter Cedric
