G'day All,
Well today is finally a rest day where we did not have to be up before the birds, breakfast was a relaxed affair but we still needed to be out and about early as the heat of the day was going to be about 34c today, So we decided that we would walk up to what they call Jacobs Ladder and then have a look around Kings park as it looked so beautiful from the quick trips we have had there .

So on the road again we go found where the so called steps were, and nearly fainted as they went up and up and up and up and UP, so up we go to the top and what a wonderful view stunning is the word but then again we had a perfect morning for it not a cloud in the sky and still early it was just on 8.30 when we went up we had a look around the war memorial and other memorials to fallen soldiers including the only Jewish war memorial in Australia, they had had a concert here the previous night so the crews were working to pull down all the seating and stage and barriers so we had to dodge chairs tent pegs and fencing, we then headed into the water garden and saw some of the native flowers in there, we came across a Boab tree that had been moved down from Northern Western Australia 3,500klm away and looking at it you would not know that this tree was 750 years old they relocated it to the Gardens to protect it as they were going to knock it down to build the new Northern Highway, after this we went for a walk and found the Grevillia gardens these plants are Bird attractants for their sweet nectar in the spiny flower stalk, from there we wandered through the water garden then went across the tree top walk way and back towards the main gate we found the walk way down to the road and back to our Hotel it was called the Kokoda track in memory of the gallant men that fought a delaying battle up in Papua New Guinea during the second world war and virtually saved Australia from a Japanese invasion.

We managed to spend nearly 5 hours in the Gardens and believe me this was a minuscule time as they are over 400 hectares so what we saw today was the tip of an iceberg, we arrived Back at the hotel and decided to head into town and change the mouse and check out some things so went back into JBHIFI and the bloke was great found that there was a problem swapped it over gave us some money back and away we went back to the Hotel Dinner and bed as again we have a early day we are of to Rottness island tomorrow.
