G'day All,
Well the day has arrived that we are now leaving Perth and heading some 2,000 kilometres north to the town of Broome, this is where I hope to catch what they call the stairway to the Moon it is only on for a number of Months and is only available when the low tide and a full moon is right, as it looks like a set of stairs with the mud flats and the light reflection from the moon
.
After much confusion re booking flights etc due to changes the Shuttle arrived and off we went to the airport had time to check in the bags and get a quick coffee and a bite to eat before boarding the flight, we took off and up and away into the wild blue yonder, the flight was good and a surprise we actually had a snack pack handed to us as apparently this is a law in Western Australia that all internal flights have to give u a snack as part of the air fare explains why they were dearer, the 2 and a half hours went quickly and soon we were on the ground at Broome International airport, we walked into a tin shed with a carrousel in it for the bags, the temperature was a pleasant 30c and humidity was 90% so a nice welcome to Broome, went and found the transfer desk and paid $12 to get taken to the hotel checked in and then decided what to do as it was 5pm now. The room was nice cold some one had set the air conditioner to 18c so walking into it from 35 was like walking into a freezer we put the bags down and i sat down on the end of the bed and then this really loud rude noise emanated from the bed Nancy spun round and gave me a filthy look and we put stuff away and then decided that maybe a walk to the viewing point would be worth a shot to see if we could get some photo's so off we went to have a look the cloud cover was fairly extensive and at one point i saw the moon through the clouds so hopefully will be a good sight but alas the only thing we saw was cloud and Nancy was eaten alive by mossies (mosquitoes).
We then headed back to the hotel for dinner and bed the meal was good was a Sunday roast so u could have a choice of meats and roast vegetables and desert and coffee, so then it was time to hit the bed. Good night all sleep well
