We had a fairly smooth crossing, thank goodness, but a real surprise was the fact that we seem to have travelled to Holland via the US..... I HAD intended to sit in the Piano Bar & read while the pianist gently tinkled the ivories, but it turned out to be a guitarist - he was very good but so loud I removed myself to the Quiet Lounge (look what one notice called it) :)
We arrived into Rotterdam in thick fog, but it gradually dissipated as we went south until we hit 27deg in Germany! Going through Frankfurt we had a huge thunderstorm, roads awash, down to 30mph on the autobahn & the temp dropped 12 deg almost instantly, but no real problem.
When we finally arrived at our site for the night south of there, it turned into a nice evening. Camping Mainflingen is set on a pretty lake in the town of the same name. There are many permanent vans sited there and a separate field for tourers, where we were the only outfit for the night. We had a stroll round the site and I was astonished to see someone actually swimming in said lake– it must have been FREEZING!
And to finish today, a pic for all my doggy friends - it made me smile :)
