Another day over 20 deg - & another day in the car! We’ve headed south towards the Austrian border & are staying on the edge of the Bavarian Alps so the scenery is getting better all the time. I know pics of toilets are a bit strange, but this one at a service station was special: when you’d flushed, the turquoise arm extended to fully rotate & clean the seat!!
The way south was busy & fraught with roadworks so it wasn’t the best of journeys, but we’re here for 3 days now so we’ll have a rest & a sight-see. We HAD intended to stay in the Bavarian Alps near the Czech border, but it was due to rain for the next 4 days and all our intended activities were outdoors so we decided to reroute ourselves to somewhere with slightly drier things to do.
Our site at Feilnbach south west of Munich is called Kaiser Camping & is quite big, but all the pitches are in little blocks or circles so it doesn’t feel like that. It has spotless facilities too & very friendly staff who speak good English, which is handy as my German is minimal! There is also a swimming pool and a riverside walk - IF the weather improves!
We did a spot of shopping tonight in a Lidl-like place where wine was €1.69 a bottle & local beer at €0.75 a bottle - I like this area already! We ate local food at a local restaurant tonight (MUCH nicer than the Royston Vasey locals!) - pork schnitzel, chips, salad & beer. A lovely evening was slightly spoiled by exiting the restaurant into torrential rain – and our car was at the far end of the car park....
