Since Croatia has so many islands, we thought we should stay on one so we've moved onto the vowelly challenged island of Krk. (OK, I know vowelly is not a real word but it says what I need!) It was a shame to leave the lovely Dalmatian coast & our wonderful site, but we wanted to explore pastures new, so we're now at Camping Nijvice on Krk. Its a much larger site than we really like, but its where we want to be, has good facilities & costs €17 a night with our ACSI discount card.
The way here was pretty - through the mountains & down to the coast again, past interesting rock faces & one that reminded us a bit of Devil's Tower in Wyoming. We also had to navigate livestock - Mr & Mrs Bull were on the road, with Mr obviously having pulled up his stake & was dragging it along. You can just see it on the photo, but I missed the pic where he was directly in our path.....
We've managed to get a large pitch again - you walk round with map in hand, then tell the office which one you've chosen. It seems that the whole of Germany is here, at least the ones who weren't on our last site, and as Brits we're very much in the minority once again. There is a Swedish motorhome behind us – now THEY really are the only reps for their country! Our pitch is large & stony with a personal water tap but its quite a walk to the facilities & even further to Reception.
Njivice is a very small town on the northern coast, pronounced Nyivitsa with the emphasis on the Nyi, but for navigating purposes its N J Vice We'll explore it over the next few days but probably by bike as there seems to be very little parking – an exploratory ride showed us a nice port/marina and interesting looking eateries but nowhere to park a car. The sunsets are nice though, seen from the private beach of the site.

We stayed on Krk last year. We TRIED to windsurf. We got as far as getting rigged and our kit got wet - but only because the wind was a front which brought rain... which killed the wind! It is a fabulous island and we loved the fact that the high point, Vrh, has no vowels either! Just have to watch out for the naturists. Barely a day went by where we didn't see naked people. We even got directions from a bloke wearing nothing but a camera and a pair of sandals! www.worldwidewalkies.com
