Oaxacan weaving

Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico
Last stop was to see an Oaxacan weaving demonstration.

Forty different colours can be made from the crimson-coloured dye carmineof the cochineal parasite that lives on the prickly pear cactus plant by adding various amounts of either lime or baking soda.

Like many countries that I have visited, all the colours are made from natural plants, seeds etc.

Do I or do I not? I still have many weeks on the road and while I was tempted decided not to add to my wall hanging weaving collection. .... and "No" was the answer.
