Holy city of the ancient Zapotecs is located 400 metres above the Oaxaca valley.

Around the Grand Plaza was the ball court, numerous tombs, ceremonial altars, tunnels, pyramids and palaces, many decorated by glyphs, paintings and intricate carvings.

In Tulle is supposedly the largest tree in the world. It may have the biggest girth wise.

At the mezcal distillery agave is harvested after 7 to 8 years and only the heart is used. Roasted in a pit fire for a week 3 tons of the heart are used at once.

Then ground with a mule turning the heavy stone.

Filled ½ hot water and ½ cold water. Allowed to ferment in barrels for 8 to 15 days.

Finally passes through the still.
 
An Oaxacan weaving demonstration where 40 different colours can be made from the crimson-coloured dye carmine of the cochineal parasite that lives on the prickly pear cactus plant by adding various amounts of either lime or baking soda.

All the colours are made from natural plants, seeds etc.
