Skyeskyns on the Waternish Peninsula is one of two remaining tanneries in the United Kingdom.

"for everything in sheepskin"

It is a family owned traditional tannery that utilises time-honoured methods of making leather . The machinery was sourced from old tanneries and dates back to the early nineteen hundreds. The skins come from the abattoir at Inverness.

We find it so interesting we visit with both Clayton and Andrew.

Andrew and I spot some fish skins on the wall - our Father used to make fish leather!

The showroom above the tannery is most elegant and filled with exquisite products in wool and leather.
