Staying with the theme of a road less travelled we take an indirect route south and west from Northam to the Margret River region . Through York, down the Great Southern H'way to Narrogin, our first opportunity to go cross country to Collie, and it was a beautiful drive. We stopped briefly for lunch in Narrogin, a picturesque and quite large provincial centre.

Upon recommendations from fellow travellers and WikiCamps we are heading to Big Valley Campground, a farm stay catering for us touring bodies. Situated about 9klm east of the township of Margret River, this sheep/camping property is well situated, very picturesque and great facilities. We score a site overlooking westwards a small valley with sheep grazing.

Now the good oil, Margret River, the region, is noted for several pastimes. Firstly, depending upon your point of view, is surfing as here is the home of the Margret River professional surf contest, and a epic surf break.
