PAPHOS: The Stay Experience at the Olympic Lagoon!

Paphos, Pafos, Cyprus

An All Inclusive Haven of Pleasure – Top notch Service, Unbeatable Cuisine!

For my short stay in Paphos, I chose the Olympic Lagoon once again this year . The fact that the hotel was fully booked and I had a last minute booking proves that it keeps being popular and this year even more. It did not take me long to notice the changes to the benefit of guests and this made me happy for my choice.

LOCATION: Close to the city centre and shopping area and with direct access to the beach the Olympic Lagoon can be a great base for exploring the island. It is only 15km from the airport.

STAFF/SERVICE: Lovely to be back, greeted warmly with a welcoming drink and a refreshing wet hand towel. Check-in was fast and swift and I have only positive comments to make, as the teams in general seem to work on the least detail for the comfort of guests. Extra credit given to Achileas from the concierge who helped with the Wi Fi connection, Anthoula and Elena who were present when I needed them

THE RESORT: At a beautiful setting of tropical gardens with grown up by now palm trees scattered all over the premises among pools and lagoons, playgrounds and restaurants, the air of the most promising holidays is hanging over the Olympic Lagoon. Stunning as it is this year, the hotel stands out among the rest in the area.

It offers upgraded facilities and services and provides an immense variety of family-focused and adult-oriented amenities. In other words, the ideal haven of leisure where guests can enjoy their favorite aspect –the fun facilities for all ages, or the quiet adult area.

The key word is variety, and indeed there is much to do here depending on your likes. From different room types to multiple pools and cuisine –the choice is up to the budget limit, of the individual party .

ROOM: I had the Double Pool-view Suite #3226 which was pleasantly spacious, spotless and nicely furnished with facilities and amenities for demanding guests. Functional and trendy in contemporary lines offers the absolute delight of a stay.

With nothing missing, an awesome view and a comfortable double bed, nothing less than what I expected out of such stay.

Fresh flowers always make a difference and the complimentary treat was just as good as last year's. Sparkling wine and dainty morsel nicely presented on a 3 tier stand server. A lovely treat to repeaters!

The suite overlooked the beautiful garden and across the promenade path the wavy cost. Unfortunately on both days the sea was rough so I kept myself busy spending more time at the SPA.

BATHROOM: The ultimate comfort! Well lit, with plenty of deluxe branded toiletries.

SERENITY SPA: I am a big believer in the power of massage to soothe tired and aching muscles; a gentle relaxing massage can be good for the mind too – with delicate aromas to help you relax which the therapist softly kneads out tension and stress. At the end of a fun-filled day there is nothing better than slipping on a fluffy white robe and heading to the welcoming treatment room for a pampering massage .

In my case, I opted for a mini facial (€35) and a normal back massage (€75). I felt the difference instantly as Petra, my therapist managed to relieve all the tension from my back.

The Spa of the resort encompasses the best of nature to give guests a unique wellbeing experience with fantastic products making you feel brilliant inside and out. The renowned brands used, guarantee a blissful experience. Worth giving it a try!

WI FI: Satisfactory.

POOLS:
There are four swimming pools including themed lagoon pools, a Mayan Temple with integrated water slides and a luxury free form indoor pool for family entertainment.

The adults’ pool has its own section for more peace and tranquility, and for the cold winter days there is also an indoor pool at the Health club and Spa.

WEDDINGS: 'Kanika Weddings’ have become synonymous with romantic celebrations in all Kanika hotels across Cyprus . The people behind are professionals, just let them know. I remember how I was bothered last year with the noise and disturbance from weddings but thankfully it was much better this year.

RESTAURANTS: With 6 restaurants and 5 Bars there is plenty of choice. Personally I had time to enjoy breakfast at the main restaurant where buffets are extended and include vegetarian options too.

Not only has the cuisine been upgraded this year, but the interior looks more inviting. Buffets include variety of quality dishes depending on the theme.

Dinner at the Japanese ‘Seven Orchids’ –the Pan Asian restaurant was another surprise.

I enjoyed a delectable journey to Asian flavours and in the capacity of a Food critic I nibbled a lot. Each dish was exceptional with its own taste and unique flavour. Judging from what I had, it would easily compete signature Japanese restaurants in Paphos. The service was top notch, tastes were exquisite and definitely the team deserves a huge ‘Bravo’.

The upgraded Garibaldi (adult’s only) was my third surprise.

The appetizers’ buffet stands out in quality and presentation with dainty morsels of exceptional taste. The Chefs Luca Rosini and Niko urged me to try and compare this year’s dishes . I opted for the Mushroom Soup which perhaps was one of the best I’ve ever had, with a great depth of flavour, fungi and earthy silkiness. The Goat Cheese Ravioli is certainly another dish not to be missed. A glimpse through my notes shows an A+ and the Beef Brisket was just as good, tenderly juicy and divine.

For Dessert I enjoyed a mouthwatering Panacotta!

I did feel the passion of the Chefs for their creations after a short chat I had with them in the kitchen. The concept is excellent and with the contribution of Christos the sommelier, Fotis and Elena, the restaurant stands out by far!

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT: The Xperience Arena is still my favourite this year, presenting spectacular shows. Once again the Broadway-style shows travelled me through the night.

The You & Me is another favorite, a venue for adults only, who enjoy classic cocktails and drinks to accompany adult-oriented professional entertainment .

IN ALL: During the two nights I spent here, the place was bursting with energy and excitement so if this is the type of holidays you are dreaming of, this is exactly the place to be. No wonder why it ranks high on the luxury scale of the ‘all inclusive’ hotels. Make it your first choice in Paphos without having second thoughts.
