Limassol, Cyprus
A LUXURY ESCAPE: First Class Resort for Extremely Demanding Guests!
Amathus is a stylish and tranquil hotel with a fantastic selection of leisure and dining facilities .
I recently spent three dreamy nights at the cosmopolitan Amathus, member of 'The Leading Hotels of the World' but also ‘Leading Spas of the World’. A favourite of mine hotel that justly deserves its high ranking, competing with its co-managed and neighbouring Four Seasons.
LOCATION: East end of the resort strip! With only a 10 minute drive from the town centre and minutes from markets and museums, it enjoys a unique location that makes a great base for exploring the island.
CHECK-IN/ SERVICE: I was impressed once again.
Check-in was fast and efficient and I was greeted with a warm welcome by the staff and management. I felt spoilt with all the care and attention and service on the whole was top notch .
AMBIENCE: Modern and elegant, the interior is every bit as sleek, classy and chic as you can imagine. An astonishingly inviting lobby and lounge with a clever mixture of lighter tone and soft patterns involving the space with a sense of calm and peace. The hotel is just as breathtaking as its surroundings.
GARDENS / BEACH: The place is perfect to let oneself be surrounded by the enchanting scenery.
Beautifully tended tropical gardens that give a very natural ambience with an abundance of palm trees and tropical plants through pathways.
The atmosphere throughout the spa hotel is second to none .
Stepping out and into the stunning garden you come across a wide seaside lawn with sun-loungers on it, and two small sandy patches right and left across the public coastal path.
One is for families and children and for adults the other, for more tranquility and peace.
The tropical garden and outdoor pools loungers though, seem more in demand than those by the beach.
POOLS: The main outdoor freshwater pool is long and amazing and at a point it reaches the 3.85m depth.
The 20-metre-long indoor family pool is like a seawater sanctuary, more popular during the cold months as it is heated to 29 degrees. Beautifully designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing plenty of light to come in, and overlooks the tropical garden .
WELLNESS CENTRE: What a marvel to escape from the pressures of everyday life and transport yourself to the tranquil surroundings of the Spa Centre where time is left at the door!
A subterranean, wood-floored spa, with Pevonia products, is atmospherically lit, with numerous treatment rooms including couple's massage; the relaxation area has a water feature and indirect natural light. Perhaps the most beautiful I’ve ever been to.
A choice of packages will entice you to spend a morning or an afternoon, rather than just a stolen away here and there. All packages have been selected to set you on a journey of rejuvenation and indulgence.
Being pretty stressed over the weeks the package I had was exactly what I needed.
I had a 25 minute session Deep Tissue back massage for €60 .00 where my therapist Ginka managed to ease the pain I had, and relieved stress. For the face, I opted for the ‘Deep Pore Cleansing Facial’ -60min. €110.00. The result was a glowing complexion and firmer skin.
SUITE: The spacious rooms and suites strike the perfect balance between luxury and homely.
The superior sea view #132 was spacious and elegant with contemporary interior, offering the ultimate in style comfort and relaxation.
Through the night I would sleep with the sound of the waves lapping against the shore with door wide open and I would wake to gorgeous views of the Mediterranean every morning, the best way to start a day of blissful relaxation .
Not even once did I miss the stunningly beautiful sunrise out at the well-appointed balcony and again in the afternoon enjoy my cup of coffee catching the last afternoon sun.
The suite offered the typical five-star perks; a welcome fruit platter, slippers and bathrobe, coffee/tea maker, iPod docks, mini bar and room safe. In other words, it had the required comfort with nothing missing.
Bathroom, white tiled with bath tab, normal size but well-lit and bright, and the luxury range of Bvlgari products, amenities that definitely spoil guests.
KIDS CLUB: Family-friendly as it is, the hotel provides separate space for families with children, but at the same time ensures the tranquility of the adult guests .
Besides the sandy beach complete with toys, children can enjoy the kids’ swimming pool with slides -waterpark-style pool and a children’s adventure playground, facilities of the Pelican Kids Club.
BREAKFAST: American breakfast, variety and excellent tastes and all these, in an interactive showcase kitchen.
DINNING: I dined twice at Limanaki, the signature seafood restaurant of the resort and the third night at the Grill room. Separate reviews of both are found under the restaurants’ name. In short though, both provide the highest of standards, exceptional tastes and top notch service.
IN ALL: A tranquil hideaway for families! I like to feel at home even when I am away and this lovely resort is as personal as it gets. The friendly personnel and management know well how to make guests feel important and valued. The resort seems to be the perfect choice for anyone who appreciates luxury and the highest standards of service.
