Michalis Mozzoras:

When I visited the village of Kalavasos some moths back I met an artist working on stones and wood and we have become friends ever since . His name is Michalis Mozzoras. Besides a fine artist he is also a composer and a singer of traditional Cypriot songs.  http://www.armonia.net/cyprus/ballads8001.html

(Get an idea of Michali's work) Of course the person who created the above website takes advantage of Michali and he is copyrighting and earning money out of his hard work). I truly have no idea how to stop this, and if somebody knows and wants to help, please contact me. It is so unfair!

I have arranged to meet Michali at 6:00 p.m so when my friend left I decided to start getting ready immediately and not wait for the very last minute . I want to get downstairs, take some pictures and have a short stroll by the beach before going to Nicosia.

I am almost ready, but I do need 15 more minutes to finish everything without rushing before getting downstairs. Suddenly I receive an unexpected call from Michali telling me that he is on his way, but the tragic is that he is only 5 minutes drive away from the hotel. I just wondered if I had to rush again or ask him to wait until I finish. Oh no! I am not to blame if I delay at all, -he needed to have told me much earlier, so I tell him to remain in the car and wait for me until I finish and come down.

Michali has a meeting at the Hilton Hotel this afternoon with other composers and singers, much earlier than the time we had arranged so this was the reason he showed up much earlier and he just forgot to tell me. He also came a bit earlier he said as he is willing to stop to different places for me to take pictures if I find something interesting on the way .

On the way we make a short stop at the village of Shia. A music festival dedicated to Stelios Kazantzidis is taking place tonight and people from the community get the place ready for the event.  

Now, Stelios was a prominent Greek singer. Between the 1950s and 1990s he was considered the voice of the Greek diaspora.(dispersal)

His death saw Greece and its millions of migrants scattered all over the world, people with whom Kazantzidis had formed an amazing bond through his words, shed tears for him. His music captured their feelings in a period which forever would change Greece.

Stelios was considered by many the most prolific and stirring singer of Greek popular music, and he worked with many Greek composers and writers. He was very humble, hated luxury, and lived a very simple life.
