Charalambos is a friend who spotted me through the net. We have never met before but when he read my entries about Lefkara he got in touch with me and told me that there is still much to see out there. He offered to show me around, invited me to join him and his friend for dinner at his beautiful house, and he wants me to see his huge collection of antiques coming from all over the world. He used to travel a lot in the past with his work, working for the government.



My new friend and Irena, his Russian friend meet me at the hotel the set time, but unfortunately we come to the music festival 20 minutes before the end . What a disappointment! The performance was great but so little. I could have stayed out there listening and watching the orchestra playing for hours under the full moon next to the beach.



The community outreach programmes of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra are part of the artistic policy of the CySO Foundation. They are formed in such a way as to be easily presentable in a variety of venues other than the usual concert halls, and they address the wider public. These programmes aim to both entertain and educate. Their objective is to bring classical music as well as other types of orchestral music to venues where it can be attended by various groups of people such as college students, village and suburbs residents, soldiers as well as tenants at various welfare foundations: old people's home, health centres, etc in all Cyprus districts.

Pieces of Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Albeniz, and the Greek composer Y. Hadjiloizou who was also the conductor were heard this evening..

 

The music festival is over and we are having a long, but really long stroll by the beach. The full moon shines brightly in the sky over the calm Mediterranean waters. As we were walking next to the coast suddenly we hear the fireworks from the Four Season Hotel but we cannot see them as we are far. I think nobody wants to get indoors on such a beautiful night. We are several Kms away from the hotel and little by little we are approaching the hotel without noticing it. Of course the car is back where we left it and Irena is already tired so she decides to get to the hotel’s café and wait for us until we go back and get it. We walk fast and I am happy that my new friend enjoys walking just like me.



We find Irena at the café enjoying her cup of green tea, we order some ice cream for ourselves, and we end this beautiful summer evening a little after midnight. Before saying goodnight we arrange the time we meet tomorrow.
