SeaTac, Washington, United States
Today was our first extensive shore excursion, traveling from the beach/town area to the Tarcoles River and a boat trip to look at crocs and birds. Saw 9 different bird species but was difficult to get pics from moving /rocking boat. Great lunch and a bit of shopping for those so inclined.

Costa Rica is located halfway between Alaska and the tip of South America . Discovered by Columbus on his 4th voyage in 1502 it spans land between the Caribbean and Pacific.

Costa Rica is a rich country and the people appear to be happy with their government. There have been 60 years of uninterrupted democratic rule. The Ticos (Costa Ricans) boast of 97% healthcare coverage, 93% literacy, and 6% of the GDP goes to education. 99% of their energy comes from renewable resources.

Bananas are now #1 export. Coffee #2. Flower exports bring in $100 million per year, and Intel contributes 4.96% to the GDP.

Rawlings baseballs are made here, 1,800,000 per year. Tourists total 2.6 million per year.

25% of land mass is set aside as preserve for wildlife.

Pura Vida - full of life, this is living, going great, cool. PURA VIDA!!!!!
