Puerto Quetzel/Antigua, Guatemala.

Lovely outing today. Fantastic guide and Mt. Fiego decided to spend the day periodically erupting steam. One of our group had visited 4 times and never saw it erupt. Friday 13 was lucky for us. There are many volcanoes in Guatemala and several of them are active. The Capitol of Guatemala had to be moved twice because of Mt. Fiego.

Weather was high 70s and the smaller coach was comfortable . We walked through Antigua visiting the cathedral, main square, parks, and had lunch at a fantastic restaurant. Spent the rest of the afternoon people watching and shopping. Sorry, I left my money safely in the ship's safe.

The craftspeople know when the cruise ships are coming and come down from the mountains to hawk their wares. Beautiful textiles, jewelry, musical instruments, etc. Many of the women have their baby wrapped in a shawl over their shoulder. Makes you want to buy everything.

We are at sea until Monday when we reach Puerto Vallarta.

Everything is so colorful and yes I would buy everything. What would I do with it though. We just got back from Cancun. Warren wouldn't let me change my money to pesos so I could only shop where they took credit cards. Not so much fun. Pesos are 20 to one dollar. Such a deal.

Love this country!! It was the birth place of my 9 year old granddaughter Isabela. I was there once to spend a week with her when she was one week old. I had to wait almost 9 more months for my daughter and son in law to bring her home to Idaho. The foster family that took care of her for all that time are amazing people!
