Today is Mother's Day back in the states. I wished the woman at the hotel's front desk Happy Mother's Day. I found out that in France they celebrate Mother's Day on May 28th. And this beautiful girl from Russia (Rena) told me in Russia they celebrate the 2nd Sunday in November.
I am missing my sons and family today ❤️ .....but being in the South of France does take the sting out of it.    

 This morning we took a train to Cannes (we are getting to know the Nice train station like the back of our hand) 

While we were on the train, this really nice Frenchwoman named Cecille asked us if we are visiting. She was on her way to Cannes to work at an event she had planned there during the Cannes Film Festival that starts this Wed. the 17th. 
 
She gave us many suggestions on our visit to Nice, Cannes and Antibes. We got to spend 15 mins just talking and getting to know each other. I felt like I'd known her for years. One of the nicest French people I've met here.  

Cannes is busy getting ready for the world to come and celebrate this annual event. Celebrities galore attend and I was hoping we might see 1 or 2 while there. The only ones we saw were the girl from Titanic and one of the Star Wars characters (see photos below). Well, I think they were the stand-ins ....lol.

As beautiful and exciting as Cannes is, we were ready to explore this quaint town called Antibes.  
We boarded the train again, got off at Antibes and got to know their old streets. Very quaint, cobblestones, sidewalk cafes abound and cute old French people around every corner. A slower pace...very refreshing. 

Tomorrow we'll spend the day in Nice. A lot to see in this beautiful Mediterranean town.
