1434. Back Across the Bridge

Parchal, Faro, Portugal
Day 176
6 hrs, 5 .1 kms
Day Totals: 16 hrs, 23.1 kms

It's dark now, so I should pick up the pace--but when I pass through Parchal I figure I should tack it on to my collection. Neither a touristy beach town nor a historical village, it feels more like a lower middle class suburb. Find an open space with just enough light for my video clip... then on across the long bridge across the bay... and to Portimao.

My Lagos Superhike is officially over.

Summary of my Lagos Superhike.

This Superhike allowed me a number of snapshots of real life in small town Portugal and its simple charm... it also allowed me a look at some of the faded grandeur of yesteryears in castle towns like Silves and Lagos.

But the most special thing about this Superhike was following the stunning rugged coast to "The End of the World" and imagining what it must've been like, 600 years ago to gaze out to the endless sea and wonder... as there anything out there?

Would I have been one of the people who signed up to hop on one of the ships to go find out? I don't know
