1426. Down to the Coast

Salema, Algarve, Portugal
Day 174
3 hrs, 10 .0 kms

Rather than follow the main road straight back, I decide to veer down to the coast the the town of Salemo. This has an off the beaten path yet touristy feel, tucked in a narrow valley that meets the sea. With its narrow alleys and fishing boats, it does keep an air of authenticity to it though.

Rather then follow the main road, I figure I an back road along the coast should work for me. It takes me to an open meadow along a stream with a cluster of camping cars--folks that look like they're just hiding from civilization for a while.

Unfortunately, the stream looks a bit to deep to wade across, so it looks like I'll have to make a long loop back to the main road--where I end up getting stuck in the meadow which is actually more of a swamp...

Anyways... I suppose it was still worth it to get a glimpse of this off the grid counter-culture.
