We arrived at the campsite for the weekend by lunchtime and
managed to get front row camp spots and quite spacious ones at that.
The band started at about 4pm and carried on for the weekend
with very few breaks, in other words not much sleep for the 4 nights. Actually
we didn’t even need to go to the marquee for the entertainment we got the
music, vibrations and atmosphere in the van.
On the second night, Martin Brundle came to give us a talk
or answer our questions. He was good and he reckons he has never fielded so
many questions in a session, so we did good!!
First days practice turned out to be quite wet, so we were
very thankful for our covered grandstand seats. The rest of the weekend was dry
and the final practice, qualifying and race were all great.
We managed to watch quite a few of the other races, parades
and Mick Schumachers lap of honour for his dad (25 years after the first win
for Michael Schumacher and it was at Spa).
For all the races except the F1, the only way we could bear to be in the
stands was with ear plugs in, the other cars are all unbelievably loud. The
Porsche race was total chaos, but like my brother says they handle like
shopping trolleys so it’s to be expected.
We just need to pray for no more rain now until we have got
off this field without the use of the tractor on standby!!
