Edam and Amsterdam

Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
ACSI Camping Het Amsteleeven
We took a slight detour on the way to Amsterdam and had a few hours wandering around Edam.
We parked at the harbour (specially for motorhomes) where there was a very gaudy boat and then walked along the canal to town. The centre was quite small but very nice and it was Monuments day, which meant we could go in all the museums for free. The church bells and the old house museum were particularly good and the little streets were quaint so it was a good detour.
Today was a shock to the system as we had to be up and out for 8am to make sure we got to the Van Gogh museum on time. Penny set the alarm clock wrong so we were late up which was a great start. After a long crowded tram ride we arrived just in time. Roger and Ruth enjoyed the museum, Mark thought it was okay but Penny was disappointed given all the other arty museums we’ve been to. After lunch at Wagamama (very nice first experience) we went on a canal tour and that was quite good.
Finally we had a good old wander around little and dodgy streets, we feel we saw and smelt everything we should have when you visit Amsterdam, so we left Central station worn out but satisfied we’d captured Amsterdam.
