's Hertogenbosch, North Brabant, Netherlands
Aire at Ressen N51°53. 313’ E5°52.343’
Ooh the weather changed this morning to severe thunder and rain. Fortunately it cleared up by late morning so we set off to Den Bosch (short for s’Hertogenbosch), the capital of the Brabant region and with supposedly very different canals.
On arriving in the city centre we realised there was no suitable parking for Motorhomes, so our new router came in handy to find us a park n ride. After successfully parking and a bus trip back to the city off we went in search of the tourist office, which was housed in the oldest brick building in Holland. Our next stop was the Cathedral and oh my what a spectacular sight that was. I suppose having taken over 200 years to build it there is no excuse for it not to be special. During a recent restoration, for whatever reason, they replaced one of the angel decorations with one holding a mobile phone!!
With severe neck ache from looking at the church roof for so long, we set off to find the canal.  Our ride on the canal was very interesting but basically we took a 50 minute trip through the sewers.
Once again the buildings around town and particularly market square and the side streets off were beautiful. It was market day so the square and town was heaving but it was your typical market so we just sat and enjoyed an icecream watching the world go by.
Back on the bus to the car park and then on to Ressen for our camp on a fruit farm for the evening.
