Port McNeill

Driving north through the remote forest We are driving north
Where do we go camping this year – Gine said she would like to see the Islands in the north – and lucky for us: it looks like it will be hot…. Because that far north it will be a few degrees colder… we came here before: but it still amazed us again – they say you drive through a remote forested area and that is exactly what you do for over 2 hours – no houses –beside turn off to Sayward & a sign to Woss & Zeballos – forest – mountains and more forest….

Port McNeill Along the Beach in Port McNeill
First things first: we have to fill up some water at the gas station, so we can use our bathroom and then we went down towards the beach: ok there is one spot free parking from 5 pm – 9 am, a good spot to spent the night in another 15 Min. Since the sun sneaked out, it is perfect to walk along the beach and for Paul checking out should we have soup or Pizza and free internet – and we decided it is time for Pizza… and so we went to the local Pizza express and had a super awesome yummy Pizza!!!

Port McNeill Sunset & Rain drops over the harbour
Lucky for Paul we had free Wi-Fi and lucky for Gine we were parking right at the harbour, therefore between some rain drops, Gine could jump out, check out the harbour park, see the sunset, the clouds and the rain over the Marina – and did I mention that we had free camping!

Port McNeill Forever a Rainbow in our hearts
We read this in a park bench – and we saw a rainbow hovering over Haddlington Island…

Port McNeill Discovering the Fishing fleet
When you get up in the morning you have to have a nice walk and that we did, we went down to the fishing boats – and checked them out – Paul thinks they are all way to unorganized and he wouldn't be interested in a trip at all!!
We found a super old neglected sail boat – my guess – it did not got moved for at least 20 years!!!
And then it was time to move our motorhome into the ferry waiting line – we will be # 1

Port McNeill - stream of dreams Stream of Dreams
Along the fence they had those cool painted fishes sparkling in the sunshine… the stream of dreams: "We always believed that imagination saves the world"
  • all drains lead to fish and wildlife habit, it is good to know where our water comes from and where it is going and what we can do to prevent water pollution
  • let’s change the environmental behaviour with knowledge and hopefully: We learn that we can make a difference
  • Every fish is different and all off them go together along the fence
  • Dreamfishes are a symbol of hope for a future with healthy streams
So we spent the time waiting with admiring the fish – having coffee – enjoying the sunshine and phoning

Ferry to Malcolm Island Where Land ends – Life begins
We read that on one boat – let’s see if it is true. One thing for sure we had a nice sunny cross over – the ferry even had a sundeck, so we could stand up on top (we were by the way the only ones) and enjoy the views up and down the straight – it was really great.
Even better on Vancouver Island and Port McNeill the clouds were hanging and all is gray – and the island bathed in sunshine – sunshine we are coming – life can begin.

Pastry just for us
No not right away – first we had to check out the local supermarket – and also we decided we have some nice pastry for breakfast: ok so on Monday its banking day for the baker, so he does not has as much stuff – but he will make something for us: and so we got our personally made Blueberry cream cheese scones – and they tasted wonderful sitting in the sunshine.

Not we are ready for …..
