Finally camping – and what did we forget
This year we were super late for our first camping trip… guess we were too long on vacation… but finally we are on the way. Guess we are not perfect – because when we drove into Parksville, that was it, that we discovered we forgot Paul’s pills… so we called the pharmacy and then went to Thrifty’s pharmacy in Parksville to pick up some replacement…. I mean it is fun to be at Thrifty’s here – right!!!
At the sunny beach
Back on our sunny campsite… it was time for a coffee break and then we went on the beach to relax in the nice sunshine. And you will not forget supper, because come 6 o’clock the shade of the trees will come up to the towel to remind you: it’s supper time….
A fire when it’s hot (?) really!
We always like the bread on the stick and you have to do it as long as they allow camp fires… so we brought the dough… only if it is close to 30 C and you are in the full sun, a fire is not really needed, you get quite hot… nevertheless we love it!!!
A walk on the beach
What is better in the evening then going back to the beach and walk along the ocean… that’s what we did… and we also discovered a cool tree with a branch looking like a horse… and after a nice warm evening… we are super tired and ready for our motorhome….
Good morning
The best start of the day after a cup of coffee is a nice Canadian breakfast outdoors…
Walk along the beach
The big question is, which part is the nicer part the old campground in the forest or the new one in the open… to check this out, we walked along the waters edge (between all the kids from the schools) and decided: our beach is closer and has more sand… it is sunnier and less dungy… and overall it is not much more private on the old campground, because there are more people….
But the best is: the walking along the ocean… the water was here and enjoying the beautiful views and the new planted sand dunes… it is so amazing. Also what I think is super awesome is, that the forest is kind of going nearly to the ocean… with some huge trees
Back and changing into the swimming suits we went back again to the beach… and the tide is out so this time we do not walk along the water we are walking to the water… on the endless sandy beaches of Parksville – and there is so much to discover: little crabs, shells, sand dollars…. You can spend hours exploring in the sunshine… after a while Gine dropped of Paul and went again to find more ocean treasures…
What’s better wind and sun or no wind and no sun
It’s a sunny morning and the beach would be sunny… so we took our chairs from the windless shady camp site to the sunny but very windy ocean front. And the big question is what is better sun and wind or no sun and no wind… we didn’t had to think long about it, because today they decided to cut down the trees so we had to move out of safety reason… and then back at the campsite we slowly went sun-hunting… that means you move your chairs and follow the sunny spots….
And more camping is in the forecast
And since we loved camping to much we decided we have to go more often… and to make sure that we have a site and not all is booked out: Gine went online and reserved for the rest of the summer :-)….. Happy Camping 2018
