Non Travel Day

 

This morning was overcast, but after breakfast we decided
to take a ride over the “Talimena Scenic Drive” in the Ouachila National
Forest . The drive started out ok but as we approached the top of the mountain heavy clouds rolled in and covered the mountains in a thick blanket of white, you couldn’t see 50 feet in front; so we decided to forget this drive for today and return home. A stop at the local train depot which served as a museum was suggested, and agreed upon by all, it was well worth the time as there was a lot of local history on display. 
For lunch we went to a local restaurant, the “Branding Iron” for a very
good meal. When we emerged from the restaurant it was raining heavily, and it continued to rain all afternoon and late into the night. It rained a total of 7 inches today, and the creek in back of their Sue & Al’s home rose several feet, flooding the lower part of their property.
