Travel Day

 

This morning started out bright and sunny, but later it turned
a little cloudy, a perfect day for traveling . 
We headed south on I-25 to Walsenburg and then west on US 160. This was a drive through beautiful mountains
and mountain valleys; and it was our first challenge on a severe grade, North
La Veta Pass at an elevation of 9,413 feet was a steady climb at moderate
grades except for 4 miles at a 6% grade, at least that is what the “Mountain
Directory” book says. It was definitely a
little strain on the truck, but we made it ok at a respectable speed. We stopped for the night in the town of “Blanca”
at the “Blanca R. V. Park”. It is a
small campground, with small gravel sites and no grass, but we do have full
hookups, WIFI but no TV will make due for 2 nights.
