Monday afternoon meet with Drs Rhodora and Bill planning strategy for 4-5 municipalities that we had surveyed in Leyte Province to do a CHE/DPM (Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation) training program in each of these municipalities as they are invited by the mayors.

This is a bit of a challenge as the usual mode of operations with CHE here in the Philippines and elsewhere is working in one small area in this case a Barangay at a time . This approach with a nation wide critical issue of disaster preparedness is stretching all our capacities to plan for a mass population approach with CHE. There is a sense of urgency as there is only about 6 months of sunshine here before the typhoon season hits again.

The program here in the Philippines has experience in working on large Public Health issues with the TB-DOTS program very successfully. They also have now in the north a whole municipality that they are on the invitation and funding by the mayor a municipality wide CHE program These experiences will stand them in good stead.
