Laodicea on the Lycus was the ancient city of Phrygia Pacetiana, built on the river Lycus in Anatolia near the modern village of Eski Hissar, in the Denizli Province. Laodicea was originally called "Diospolis, City of Zeus". It is about 99 miles east of Ephesus.
