Edipsos, Euboea, Greece
Ever since we came to Edipsos I keep asking locals to suggest a few good restaurants. One of the three days we dined here at this small restaurant. In Greek we call it "Ouzeri" because the dishes that Dina makes match well with Ouzo or Tsipouro. Ouzeri's mostly have Seafood.
I have only positive comments to make.

Local Traditional Seafood Cousine, Impeccable Service!

The restaurant "Amfitrion" is a traditional Greek seafood restaurant 'ouzeri' that locals urged me to visit . I was lucky that we came here because by the time we left we had the feeling that we have made a new friend.

Mrs. Dina the lady who owes this ouzeri, is an excellent cook, a cheerful lady and we felt so close that we even asked her to join us for a while. We are here for appetizers or ‘meze’ in reality and this is what a customer can find in similar ‘ouzeri’.

We decided to have tsipouro here (local drink similar to raki). We let the owner recommend a few of her best dishes matching with what we were drinking. Tsipouro costs 1.50 per portion.

We had the simplest authentic but freshest salad brought to us – fresh tomato and cucumber with Greek black olives -a treat from the owner to accompany our tsipouro. I did not even bother to sprinkle oil on top. –Aromatic and tasty!

The next dish was local anchovy which Dina bought fresh, peeled it carefully and had it in vinegar and oil. It was served with freshly chopped parsley topped with some garlic. I asked for a second dish as I wanted to have it all to myself. -3.50

Sardins cost the same but I preferred to have the anchovy dish instead.

All these starters here are served in smaller portions because in reality this is what ‘pikilia’ means . (Variety of different dishes)

Seeing each dish coming to the table it is like a surprise. The moment I feel that owners really want to please the customer I rely completely on them. There is no way to have something bad and Dina has such a positive attitude and she is so cheerful that we really enjoyed our outing thanks to her and her food.

Taramosalata comes next and it is Dina’s amazing recipe. Yummy! -3.50 euros

We had some octopus next, which was mouthwatering! -8.00 euros

“Saganaki” was served topped with tomato sauce, peppers and paprika. It was a special kind of cheese and it was unbeatable.

It was here that we asked for some more tsipouro. Everything we had was appealing!

You should definitely try Dina’s fresh grilled prawns sprinkled with lemon and virgin olive oil and chopped parsley – Palatable! The cost is 9.00 euros.

Dina wanted us to taste her recipe of cuttlefish with rice so we did. It was a gastronomical delight and it only cost us 6.30 euros.

We enjoyed our outing, it might not be a glamorous or luxurious restaurant –it is simple but clean and the food is outstanding. It overlooks the beautiful bay and we had the opportunity to watch an amazing sunset.

Don’t miss coming here -prices are reasonable, amazing tastes!
